Instructions from Amie: Blackbeard - move all but Time Machine backup Silverado - Move music and entire home directory ######################################################### 1. Ran Apple Hardware Test (extended). All tests passed. 2. Erased HD and reinstalled OS X with Rosetta, Quicktime 7 and no extra language packs. 3. Ran all software updates. 4. Installed Adobe CS 5. 5. Manually removed CS 3 6. Installed iWork '09 and deleted previous versions of iWork from /Applications. ######################################################### 1. Migrated everything from LaCie drive to iMac using Migration Assistant 2. Moved files and folders which did not belong on the root of the HD to ~/Desktop/Stuff from Root of HD 3. Moved files and folders from Desktop (immediately after the migration) to ~/Desktop/Stuff from Desktop 4. Copied entire contents of Blackbeard except Time Machine backup to ~/Desktop/Blackbeard Done when logged in as root user: 5. Copied entire home directory from Silverado's latest Time Machine backup to ~/Desktop/Silverado 6. Copied "External iTunes Library", "Not Sure", "Not Sure 1" and "Not Sure 3" from root of Silverado to ~/Desktop/Silverado After logging out as root user and into Amie's admin account: 7. Removed ACLs from all contents on ~/Desktop recursively, then chown'd and chmod'd to default ownership and permissions. 8. Renamed "iPhoto Library" from Silverado's Time Machine backup's home directory to "iPhoto Library 2" and moved it to ~/Pictures 9. Verified Mail.app is working correctly. Connection doctor shows all green lights. Sent and received test emails successfully. 10. Added ~/Desktop/Silverado/External iTunes Library to iTunes. 11. Added "iTunes Music" from ~/Desktop/Silverado/amieoshaughnessy/Music/iTunes/iTunes to iTunes. 12. Deleted original iTunes music libraries from steps 10 & 11 from ~/Desktop/Silverado after addition to iTunes. (Not done yet. Awaiting Amie's approval.) 13. Installed Office 2008 12.2.5 update. Then, disabled automatic updating. 14. Repaired permissions on iMac with Disk Utility. 15. Ran DiskWarrior over iMac's boot drive to speed things up after all the file transfers. 16. Tested iMac's wireless. Full link speed achieved. 17. Ran AppleJack 1.6 over iMac deleting caches and such. Sped up things a lot! 18. Paired included Magic Mouse. ############################################################### Instructions from Amie: Stuff to Migrate from Macbook Pro: iPhoto Library and ~/Movies Bring entire contents of last WD drive over to iMac Move CS 5 installer over to MBP ############################################################### 1. Copied entire contents of last external drive, SilverSurfer, to ~/Desktop/SilverSurfer 2. Copied iPhoto Library from Macbook Pro to ~/Pictures and renamed to "iPhoto Library 3" 3. Copied ~/Movies from Macbook Pro to ~/Desktop/Stuff from Macbook Pro. 4. Backed up everything to new Time Machine Firewire drive from OWC (otherworldcomputing.com) ############################################################### Work done on MacBook Pro: 1. Deleted contents of ~/Movies and ~/Pictures/iPhoto Library to clear hard drive space after migration of said contents to new iMac and backing it up with Time Machine. 2. Installed AppleJack and ran to clear caches and such. 3. Ran DiskWarrior over MacBook Pro's boot drive.
